Originally published in German under the title "Der Bunte Rock", this book describes the development of military costume between the late 18th and mid 19th centuries, and their link with political events and economic and social trends. Superb illustrations including 44 pages of coloured plates, prints, lithographs and watercolours by contemporary artists, many never previously reproduced.
