A study of the militia’s role in defense and internal affairs from the founding of Jamestown in 1607 to 1700; in times of danger all able-bodied men, including labourers and servants, were required to defend the colony against internal (Indian, Bacon’s Rebellion) and external (Holland, Spain) threats.
