An account of the 1898 Sudan campaign, where General Herbert Kitchener, the Sirdar of Egypt, led a combined British- Egyptian army up the Nile , where he decisively defeated the Dervish forces under the Khalifa at Atbara and Omdurman, avenging the death of Gordon during the Mahdist uprising in 1884, and subduing the Sudan.
