Marder III

Marder III
Marder III

Together with development of German panzer forces it was necessary to develop specialistic and mobile anti-tank armament as a part of new panzer units. In March 1940 the German produced the first self-propelled gun on PzKpfw I Ausf. B chassis marked as Panzerjager I and armed with Czech 47 mm gun. Marder I on French tank chassis was the next similar vehicle and then Marder II on PzKpfw 38 (t) chassis. All vehicles of Marder series were armed with German 75 mm PaK 40 guns or captured Soviet 76,2 mm guns and their armour plate gave the minimum protection to the crew.
