Leopard 1 MBT in German Army Service - Early Years

 

The Leopard 1 MBT was a decicive step for the young German Army towards a German-built main battle tank. Only ten years after the Bundeswehr had been founded the first Leopards were delivered to the army. Continued improvements and the extreme reliability of the tank made it the sword of the modern German Armoured Corps for many years to come.
