The Tale Of Two Bridges

 

The 7th (Light Infantry) Parachute Battalion's defence of the bridges over the Caen Canal and River Orne; based on the diary of Colonel R.G. Pine-Coffin, DSO., MC. and memoirs of some of the men who served with him. The 7th Parachute Battalion commanded by Lt Col R G Pine-Coffin was part of the 6th Airborne Division in June 1944. Its task was to secure & hold an area east of the River Orne in Normandy. Vital to the success of the operation was the seizing of 2 bridges: Pegasus Bridge over the Caen Canal & Horsa Bridge over the River Orne.
