The Campaign in Italy

 

One of HMSO's series "Second World War 1939-1945". A vivid account of two years bitter fighting of the Eighth and Fifth Armies in the Mediterranean, beginning with the attacks on the islands of Pantellaria and Lampedusa in May and June 1943 and ending with the surrender of the Axis forces in Italy on 2nd May 1945. Although the author had access to official documents and sources of information, this book has also drawn upon his own records of conversations and observation. With 16pp b/w illustrations and several well drawn maps, this is a very good copy of the first paperback edition with a photographic front cover. The original hardback book was published in 1951.
