Soldering On: Memoirs of General Sir Hubert Gough

Gough - almost invariably described as a "thrusting cavalryman" - served in the Boer War, was involved in the Curragh incident & commanded, successively, 3rd Cav. Bde., 2nd Cav. Div., 2nd Cav. Div., 7 Div., I Corps & finally 5th Army where he became scapegoat for the March 1918 retreat.
