German Sturmgeschutze in World War II 1939-1945
The authors show us how the Germans used the assault gun throughout the war.
This book details through a mix of comprehensive text and a superb collections of photographs, the use of the Stug III Sturmgeschutze and its variants in WWII by the German army.
The assault gun units based on the Stug III's Sturmgeschutze, both the short gun 7.5cm and the 10.5cm howitzers, carried out a major part of the support to the infantry units in the war. The assault units also were the lead elements in many of the attacks against the deep and tough Russian defence lines in the middle part of the war. In the later stages of the war, the Stug III batteries - now with the F & G versions with the long 7.5cm gun - were shifted from hot spot to hot spot, to try to stem the Russian assaults.
The book mainly covers the usage of the Stug III Sturmgeschutze on the eastern front, with a good selection of photographs.
