The Creation and Development of British Airborne Forces 1941-1945
This thesis looks at the creation and development of British Airborne Forces, but also covers in some detail the origins of military parachuting and airlanding. It traces the history of parachuting in Europe and the United States with particular reference to its underlying theme of how paratroops first appeared, and what happened thereafter. It is a detailed but very readable work which will give the reader a true insight into how British paratroops were at the beginning, and how they developed throughout World War II. Also covers German, Russian, US and other countries airborne forces: it is a real alternative to the official account.
