A Short History Of the 5th Infantry Brigade
Formed in 1806, the 5th first saw combat in the Peninsular Campaign and was i n the line at Waterloo, 1815. Throughout the Great War, it remained engulfed on the Western Front and took part at the Battle of the Somme, 1916. During WWII, it served with the B.E.F. until the fall of France and its withdrawal via Dunkirk. Having reformed, the Brigade gained further battle honors in the Burma Campaign. Appendices detail all those Regiments that served under its Banner.
Enclosed letter with letter heading of Brigadier D.H. Davies MC (who wrote foreward) with details of units under his command 1962-65. This was stuck with sellotape which has left mark to pastedown and front free endpaper.
