The Last Gentlemen of War: Raider Exploits of the Cruiser Emden
During the First World War the German cruiser Emden was credited with capturing or sinking 19 merchant ships, sank a Russian cruiser and destroyed a French torpedo boat. Allied warships were determined to hunt her down, but she cleverly eluded them until she was finally pounded to destruction by the Australian cruiser Sydney after a fiercely fought battle off the Cocos Islands.
