Zerstorer Messerschmitt Me-110 Units in 1940
It is particularly noteworthy that English military historians have dealt with the subject of the activities of the German Messerschmitt 110 ‘Zerstorer’ units in the Battle of Britain. Although the Zerstorer units were in action on all fronts, this is the first fully co-ordinated account of their actions up to the present time. The Messerschmitt 110 was one of the most eagerly awaited aircraft by German fighter units - a twin-engined fighter with an endurance of two hours and well armed. In the Battle of Britain it was used mainly in the escort role; later as a fighter-bomber and low level attack aircraft.
