The Star Captains

Tom Wareham's book is full of facts which give detailed background information about the career of those officers who were not so famous or well known. There are also chapters where the frigate captains really seem to come to life, especially when we are given quotes about how they felt about serving in frigates. The Chapter on 'Actions and Aftermath' is also very, very good. There are other books on battles at sea, but this one gets deeper into the experience of what battle was all about, and also what happens when the guns finally fell silent.
