Campaign in Russia The Waffen SS on the Eastern Front
Interesting first hand account of the German invasion of Russia by a Belgian soldier who, believing the Germans offered the only believable resistance to the march of Communism, joined the Walloon legion of the Wehrmacht. This was later under the control of the Waffen SS. The author led the Wallonian Legion of the Waffen SS which was made up of Belgian volunteers that fought on the Eastern Front. But Degrelle was not just a Belgian citizen - he was leader of the Belgian Rexist Party which had won a landslide victory in the General Election of 1936. As the war came to a close he escaped retribution by flying to Spain - he crash landed and remained in Spain for the rest of his life, despite being sentenced to death for treason in his native Belgium. A supporter of the Far Right & Holocaust Denier he died in 1994.
